Biography of Dr. Ashraf Abdali

Dr. Ashraf Abdali, son of Professor Dr. Badshah Zar Abdulli, is a resident of Khost province and a member of the Tani tribe. He was born in 1985. He completed his schooling at Al-Fath High School in Khost and graduated with honors in 2002. In the same year, he passed the entrance exam and entered the Faculty of Medicine at Kandahar University. After the transfer, he completed his medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine of Sheikh Zayed University and obtained a cadre degree in 2010. After graduation, he worked as an assistant physician at a four-hundred-bed hospital for a year, while continuing his practical training in the field of neurosurgery. In 2011, he was transferred to India for specialized training at the Gangaram Institute of Postgraduate Studies (GRIPMER), a super specialty training center in India, through a competitive examination conducted by the Ministry of Public Health for specialized training in neurosurgery. He completed three years of training in neurosurgery and, with a special interest in endoscopic spine procedures, completed and achieved his specialization defense under the title of “Minimal Invasive Endoscopic Spine Surgery.”

Between 2015 and 2016, he successfully performed hundreds of complex neurosurgical operations, which had never been performed in the region before, at Matoon BaBa Hospital in Khost Province, while at the same time serving as a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Ahmad Shah Abdali Medical Institute. In 2017, he was awarded a doctoral scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Moscow, and in this regard, he completed specialized training in the field of spinal cord and skull base surgery at the world’s most advanced neurosurgery center, Bordinka. And he wrote his doctoral thesis on new methods of surgical intervention for corticotropinomas of the pituitary gland, as well as the discovery of new ways to treat these tumors using the CyberKnife and CyberKnife methods.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Ashraf Abdali is a member of various neurosurgical organizations in the world and has presented research topics at a number of international conferences. He has 10 international publications in the field of research, two of which have been approved and published by some of the most prestigious journals in the world.
